About

January 2024 Announcement:

With mixed feelings, the time has come to dissolve IMPACT Parkinson’s Society. We started our journey supporting people and their families living with Parkinson’s in 2015. It has been many wonderful years. We have laughed and cried and met such amazing people, many of whom we call our friends. We thank each and everyone of you who supported us along the way. The process will see the dissolution taking place by the end of March 2024.

British Columbian residents – for all your future needs please be sure to follow Parkinson Society British Columbia and Parkinson Wellness Projects.

February 2023 Announcement:

Moving Let’s Talk LOUD online in the spring of 2020 has been a wonderful success. We are now able to reach more people in British Columbia to offer this amazing program. So, at this time we will only be offering Let’s Talk LOUD. We’ve decided to keep all our other information on this website so you can see what we were able to do over the years for people and their families living with Parkinson’s.  Check here for details about Let’s Talk LOUD.

June 1, 2020 COVID-19 Announcement:

It is with heavy heart to announce that IMPACT Parkinson’s Centre is closing it’s doors. We are extremely grateful for the support and community love we have received, especially from our wonderful clients, assistant coaches and instructors, volunteers, community partners and the City of New Westminster.

This decision did not come easily. Due to circumstances related to Covid-19, we did not make it through to the other side. Being closed since March 16, 2020 and the fact that we are a small, volunteer based Centre that serves a high risk population, the financial situation does not allow us to keep operating the Centre.

NOW HERE’S SOME GREAT NEWS!

Although the physical centre might not be around IMPACT Parkinson’s Society is ALIVE and WELL! We will continue to offer our unique programs, workshops and events, whether they be online or in-person in the future, and continue to fundraise and support Parkinson’s in general.

In addition to fundraising for IMPACT we have raised over $10,000 for Parkinson Society British Columbia plus have volunteered our time at many of their various events over the last several years. IMPACT has also supported the Pacific Northwest Ride for The Michael J. Fox Foundation (2018, 2019), the Me-n-Ed’s Charity Golf Tournament (2018, 2019) and The Walter and Giant Cross Canada Ride (2019).

IMPACT Parkinson’s was created to make an IMPACT on the quality of life for people living with Parkinson’s, and their families and friends, by offering programs that focus on MIND, BODY + SOUL.  It was the first of its kind in BC where we offered a variety of Parkinson’s specific programs all in one location – from exercise and socio-cultural activities to speech language therapy and special workshops and events. “Like Parkinson’s, our fighters are complex – so our programs take a progressive approach by focusing on merging mind, body and soul to drive a happy, healthier life.” says CoFounder, Robyn Murrell.

IMPACT Parkinson’s is an Incorporated Non-Profit Society.
