Grapevine Custom Solutions

IMPACT Parkinson’s is thankful and indebted to Stephanie Bendo, VP of Grapevine Custom Solutions, for creating our amazing website!  We met Stephanie through one of our Parkinson’s fighters, Sylvia “Steadfast” Bull.
“I have known Sylvia my whole life, she’s my mom’s best friend and, before retiring, was her business partner. Sylvia has supported me in everything I’ve done, now it’s my turn to support her. I’m all for preventative medicine through exercise and, as a boxer myself, I understand the benefit it has for concentration, balance, focus and overall mental wellness.”
– Stephanie.

Michael Cheung

Thank you to Michael Cheung for including Rock Steady Boxing New West and IMPACT Parkinson’s as one of your fundraising participants along with Parkinson Society British Columbia and The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Funds have been donated to us that benefited our Parkinson clients directly! We met Michael Cheung, then Founder of Tea Parky, in 2017. Michael is a New Westminster resident and he knows all too well how a Parkinson’s diagnosis can affect families. His father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s around the very young age of 40, called Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease, when Michael was a young boy. His father has lived with the disease for over 17 years now. Michael originally founded Tea Parky to help bring awareness to Parkinson’s and to raise funds for research, services and for individuals with the disease. Although Tea Parky is not operating anymore, Michael has new visions on how he will support the fight against Parkinson’s. Check out his new book – Beat Parky: A Journey To Let Parkinson’s Disease Define My Family’s Legacy… For The Better!

The Rotary Club of New Westminster

The members of The Rotary Club of New Westminster have been serving their local community since 1928 by supporting a variety of groups and projects, including youth, seniors, health services and the arts. They also have several projects overseas and support the Rotary International efforts to eradicate polio. The members were delighted to partner with IMPACT Parkinson’s by providing a donation to help with one of their new programs. “We have seen firsthand, through the eyes of  our very own members, how important and beneficial these programs are.” Louise Perry, Secretary, New Westminster Rotary.

Huge thanks and gratitude to our Parkinsons’ fighter, Norm “Dr. KO” Plumb, and his sons, Colin and Doug, and their team for spearheading some fundraisers for IMPACT Parkinson’s such as their Push-Ups for Parkinson’s in 2018 and GRIT Day 2019! Close to 3000 push-ups in 30 minutes by people from all over Canada and the USA raising $6177.00! GRIT Day 2019 raised $6000.00 for us – it was a full-day affair testing the physical and mental GRIT of participants while raising awareness and fundraising to improve the lives of those affected by Parkinson’s disease! Walter and Giant

Walter Reich, 72, was born in Switzerland and came to Canada over 25 years ago. He and his wife, Regula, opened The Quiet Bay Motel in Magnetawan , Ontario. In December 2018 they sold the motel and home after many years in business and Walter wanted to bike across Canada for a cause. He chose Parkinson’s. So he created the Walter and Giant Ride. Walter rode his bike over 9000 km across Canada with Regula driving their RV. The adventure began in April 2019 (Parkinson’s Awareness Month) in Tofino, BC where he dipped his back wheel in the Pacific Ocean. And ended in St. John’s, Newfoundland in September 2019. Stopping along the way, Walter and Regula made a point of meeting people and hearing their stories of living with Parkinson’s and they carried their stories with them along the route, bringing awareness and raising funds for Parkinson’s. IMPACT was thrilled to host Walter and Regula when they arrived on mainland BC and are extremely grateful for the donation we received after the ride was completed.
